Applications now open for Work in Progress pitching programme and Student Programme, which is becoming a competition programme

Pula Film Festival published two public calls for the 72nd edition of the Festival, which will run from 10 to 17 July 2025. The first call is for the Work in Progress programme for films in post-production phase, while the second call is for the Student Programme, which is becoming a competition programme this year. Both calls will be open until 18 May 2025.
WORK IN PROGRESS
The pitching programme Work in Progress will be held during this year’s Pula Film Festival, and is aimed at authors and producers of Croatian films and Croatian minority coproductions in post-production phase. Authors of selected projects will be invited to take part in a preparation workshop and pitch their projects, in English, to a three-member jury.
Participants will compete for a cash prize in the amount of 6000 euro, as well as post-production services of picture and sound processing.
The call is open from 15 April to 18 May 2025.
STUDENT PROGRAMME
Films eligible for Pula Film Festival’s Student Programme are feature, documentary, experimental, and animated films from Croatian and abroad, and applications are open to films produced by educational film institutions that have signed an agreement with the Public Institution Pula Film Festival. Starting this year, the 72nd edition of the Festival, the programme will be a competition programme, and the winner will be selected by a three-member jury, while the selected films will be screened at the 72nd edition of the Festival. The call is open for all films produced in the current or previous year.
Eligible films include films produced by Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb, Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, Academy of Applied Arts in Rijeka, Academy of Arts and Culture in Osijek, Arts Academy of the University of Split, Acting and Media Studies in Rijeka, and by a number of international higher education institutions that have established cooperation with Pula Film Festival, such as Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade, Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television in Ljubljana, Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Skopje, Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, Faculty of Theatre and Film of the Babeș-Bolyai University (Cluj, Romania), National University of Theatre and Film “I.L. Carigale” (Bucharest, Romania), The National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts (NATFA) “Krastyo Sarafov” (Sofia, Bulgaria), Academy of Performing Arts in Sarajevo, Academy of Arts in Belgrade, Academy of Film and Multimedia Marubi (Tirana, Albania), Hellenic Cinema and Television School Stavrakos (Athens, Greece), Istanbul Kültür University (Istanbul, Turkey), ZeLIG School for Documentary, Television and New Media, Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania (Department of Media), Institute for Film and Television – Film Academy Vienna, Faculty of Dramatic Arts – University of Montenegro, VERN’ University, Academy of Arts, University of Banja Luka.
The call is open from 15 April to 18 May 2025.
