Synopsis

Kate Cooper, a former storm chaser haunted by a devastating encounter with a tornado during her college years who now studies storm patterns in New York City. She is lured back to the open plains by her friend, Javi to test a ground-breaking new tracking system. There, she crosses paths with Tyler Owens, the charming and reckless social-media superstar, who thrives on posting his storm-chasing adventures with his raucous crew. As storm season intensifies, terrifying phenomena never seen before are unleashed, and Kate, Tyler and their competing teams find themselves squarely in the paths of multiple storm systems converging over central Oklahoma in the fight of their lives.

About the director

Lee Isaac Chung

(1978) is an American filmmaker. His debut feature Munyurangabo (2007) was an official selection at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival and the first narrative feature film in the Kinyarwanda language. Chung gained fame for directing the semi-autobiographical film Minari (2020), for which he received numerous major awards and nominations, including the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film and nominations for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay at the 93rd Academy Awards. In 2023, he directed an episode in the third season of the Star Wars series The Mandalorian.
