Say NO to plastic – Be the change you want to see!
This year, Pula Film Festival is introducing a number of measures with a very specific goal – reduce its own ‘ecological footprint’. Wishing to encourage the community and the festival audience to work together, the Festival is paying special attention to waste separation and reducing single use plastics at all festival locations, becoming a part of the global environmental initiative #PlasticFreeJuly. The Festival is receiving great help and support from city companies Pulapromet and Herculanea, the association Zelena Istra (Green Istria) and the sponsors who were quick to respond, and is expecting the greatest support from you – its loyal audience.
Here is how you can help make the Festival more sustainable:
- Use the city bus! Tickets for screenings at the Arena can be used as bus tickets on the day of the screening on all Pulapromet city lines from 7 p.m. to 4 a.m.;
- The Festival is switching to digital tickets and accreditations – do not print them unless absolutely necessary!
- Single use plastic cups at the Arena will be replaced by reusable, washable PP cups that are can be returned with deposit refund or kept as a souvenir (exclusively at the bar at the Arena);
- Waste separation, especially plastic, is key: you will find bins for separating waste at each festival location – thank you for recycling!
- Please use our portable pocket ashtrays at all locations and at all times.
Thank you for supporting our initiative!
Pula Film Festival has taken the following steps: we have reduced the printing of plastic accreditations by two thirds, printing on tarpaulin has been replaced by printing on paper, and a part of the printed materials, have been printed on recycled paper. The sponsors are following closely: the loyal festival coffee, MONTE Coffee, has been setting the standard for years with its cardboard and wood packaging products and is a role model of corporate responsibility and delight; JANA has replaced a large part of its PET packaging for the needs of the Festival with glass packaging; JYSK will not have paper flyers at the Festival, and those who want to get more information about their products can scan a QR code; JAMESON has adopted sustainability a long time ago and is presenting its products at the Festival solely in paper cups.
