Plastic Free July
As part of the global environmental initiative Plastic Free July, Pula Film Festival is introducing concrete measures. What are the steps that we have taken to reduce our ecological footprint and how can the audience support us in doing that? Festival tickets and accreditations are digital, and tickets for screenings at the Arena can be used as bus tickets on the day of the screening on all Pulapromet city lines from 7 a.m. to 4 a.m., so that visitors can use public transport as simply and as much as possible. Single use plastic cups at the Arena are replaced with reusable, washable PP cups that can be returned with deposit refund or kept as a souvenir, while waste separation bins are available at each festival location. Pula Film Festival has reduced printing of plastic accreditations by two thirds as part of #PlasticFreeJuly, has replaced printing on tarpaulin by printing on paper, and a part of printed materials have been printed on recycled paper. Achieving a more sustainable edition of Pula Film Festival has been greatly supported by city companies Pulapromet and Herculanea, the association Zelena Istra (Green Istria), as well as the sponsors – MONTE, the festival coffee, with its cardboard and wood packaging and compostable pods; JANA has replaced a large part of its PET packaging with glass packaging; JYSK has not printed flyers, but is offering more information about its products by simply scanning a QR code; and JAMESON is presenting its products at the Festival solely in paper cups.
