Synopsis
The life of young Bronja, growing up in the 1980s, changes dramatically when her mother dies of cancer. After a childhood marked by this loss, Bronja’s life is shaken once again by tragic events, which she overcomes with remarkable optimism.

About the director
Marko Naberšnik (Maribor, 1973) is a Slovenian director of feature and documentary films, as well as television shows and series. He has directed more than 500 TV programmes, documentaries and series, many of which were broadcast in prime time. His feature debut Rooster’s Breakfast (2007) became one of the biggest box-office hits in Slovenia and was Slovenia’s official submission for the Academy Awards. The film also received an award at the Southeast European Film Festival Los Angeles. His film Shanghai Gypsy (2012) premiered in the World Competition programme of the Montreal World Film Festival, where it won the award for Best Screenplay, while the anti-war drama The Woods Are Still Green (2014) was screened in the main Golden Goblet competition programme of the Shanghai International Film Festival. Naberšnik is a full professor at the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television (AGRFT), University of Ljubljana.
