Synopsis

The Maynard family of five leads the perfect life of billionaires, while their enormous family wealth and influence enable them to live without any restrictions, consequences or legal sanctions. The head of the family, Amon, is a passionate hunter, but what he likes to hunt is not animals… Controversial social satire by the Austrian directorial duo Julie Niemann and Daniel Hoesl, produced by Urlich Seidl, is set in the world of the untouchable super-rich to which the law does not apply in the same way as to others.

About the director

Daniel Hoesl

(1982, Austria) studied in Salzburg, Vienna and at FAMU in Prague. After working in the arts for a while, he began working for filmmakers such as Ulrich Seidl and Michael Glawogger. He is founder of the production company and film collective A European Film Conspiracy, with whom he made his feature debut, Soldier Jane (2013). His feature WiNWiN was made in 2016. The documentary Davos (2020) won a Romy award for the best cinema documentary in 2021 and is a co-directed with Julia Niemann. Together they made Veni Vidi Vici (2024), officially selected for International Film Festival Rotterdam 2024.

Julia Niemann

(1987) studied philosophy and pursued a career in writing. She was a journalist for Der Standard among others, before entering the film world. She worked as an assistant director for director Daniel Hoesl on the feature WiNWiN, which had its world premiere at International Film Festival Rotterdam 2016. The documentary Davos (2020) is a co-directed by Niemann and Daniel Hoesl. For Veni, Vidi, Vici (2024), selected for IFFR 2024, she joins forces with Hoesl once again.
