Synopsis

Nikola is a film director stuck in commercials. He learns from his parents about the possibility of finally bringing home the remains of his late grandmother, who fled Croatia during the war and died in Serbia in the early 2000s. Nikola embarks on this journey with his father Mirko and learns lessons about parenthood, family, and memories that sometimes aren’t real.

About the director

Nikola Ležaić (Bor, 1981.) is a film screenwriter, director and producer. He graduated in film directing from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade. His directorial debut Tilva Roš is one of the most highly regarded Serbian films of the last decade. It premiered in Sarajevo, where it won the Heart of Sarajevo award, and had its international premiere in Locarno. It has been screened at more than 40 festivals worldwide and has won more than twenty awards. It was nominated for Best Debut Film at the 2011 EFA Awards. In 2014, he produced the film Disobedient, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. He has directed more than two hundred music videos and commercials. How Come It Is So Green Out Here? will be his second feature film.
