About the directors
Kokan Rakonjac (1939–1969) was a Serbian film director and one of the key figures of the Yugoslav “Black Wave” movement. He studied film directing at the Academy of Theatre, Film, Radio and Television in Belgrade. His work is marked by a modernist approach, psychological precision, and themes of youthful unrest and social alienation. He directed both short and feature films, most notably The Naughty Ones (1967), one of the seminal works of the period. He died at a very young age, leaving behind a small but highly influential body of work that significantly shaped Yugoslav modern cinema.
