Synopsis
Vilnius 2022. High-flying executive Marija chooses the worst possible moment for an honest conversation with her husband Vytas about divorcing – just one day before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine goes into full scale. Now the couple must navigate the process of separation as it collides with a refugee and mid-life crisis.

About the director
Andrius Blaževičius (Vilnius, 1985) is a Lithuanian director and screenwriter. He studied cultural history and anthropology at Vilnius University before turning to film at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, where he earned a master’s degree in directing in 2011. After making several short films, Blaževičius went on to direct features including The Saint (2016) and Runner (2021), both of which were acclaimed at international festivals. How to Divorce During the War (2026) is his third feature and premiered at Sundance Film Festival.
