Synopsis
A class of schoolchildren from a small village travels to Zagreb, but the teacher falls ill in the city and the class has to return home without him. The train gets stuck in a snow storm on their way back, and the children’s friendship is put to the test.

About the director
Mate Relja (1922–2006) was a Croatian director and screenwriter. As an auteur, he directed numerous documentary films, most notably Stop (1958), Kroz šibenske tisne kale (1968), and Bez alata nema zanata (1980). He made his feature film debut with the action-packed, post-Partisan thriller Point 905 (1960), and achieved significant success with the children’s film Dangerous Path (1963), which was awarded at the Venice Film Festival. The film Train in the Snow (1976) holds a particularly special place in his oeuvre. During the 1970s and 1980s, he worked as a production director, script consultant, and director at Filmoteka 16, where he was credited on approximately thirty productions. For his long-standing contribution to cinematic art, he was honored with the Vladimir Nazor Award for Lifetime Achievement in 1982.
