Synopsis

Seventeen-year-old Ainara seems destined for a promising academic future, but her growing spiritual conviction leads her toward an unexpected choice: a life in a convent. As her decision unsettles her family, long-held expectations, fears and beliefs rise to the surface, putting their relationships to the test.

About the director

Alauda Ruiz de Azúa (Barakaldo, 1978) is an acclaimed Spanish film director and screenwriter. She directed the short films Clases particulares (2005), Lo importante (2007), Dicen (2011), Nena (2014) and No me da la vida (2021). Her debut feature, Lullaby (2022), premiered in the Panorama section of the Berlinale and won the Golden Biznaga for Best Spanish Film at the Málaga Film Festival, as well as Silver Biznagas for Best Actress and Best Screenplay, and the Audience Award. The film went on to win three Goya Awards, including Best New Director. In 2023, she directed her second feature film, Eres tú. In 2024, she released her first fiction series, Querer, which received numerous accolades, including three Forqué Awards, three Feroz Awards and the Grand Prix of the international competition at Series Mania.
